Week 10 Submission - Ryan Hanson - Hanson Ag Advantage
Ryan Hanson - Hanson Ag Advantage
This field is P9492AM planted on June 6th.
This part of my area in Miner County has been very wet all year and a lot of
corn didn’t get planted until that first week in June. It continues to be
wet. Here about 2 weeks ago we started to notice yellow lines starting to
show the length of the field, besides the yellowing of the low areas where the
water sat too long. I stopped by one day and always look at Pro to see
what the field looks like. Noticed some weird lines in the field so we
walked out to investigate. There was about 4 rows that were really yellow
and then slowly improved. They were staggered across the field like it
was either a planter issue or a spreader issue. After the customer talked
with the applicator he admitted that they had a plugged center section on their
air flow fertilizer applicator. Which would have been nice to know when
it happened. We had this field planned for a split application of
Nitrogen anyways, and the coop agreed to spread that for free since they had a
screw up when they first spread it, which made the customer very happy.
So there is three images above. The Siever’s Drone 7-29-19 was taken
right after the urea application. The first Crop Health Index screenshot
was from 7-19-19 when we first noticed the lines. Then there is the Crop
Health Index Difference Map from 7-19-19 to 7-30-19. He topdressed with
urea on 7-25-19. So on the difference map you can also see those lines
had a significant swing to the positive side. This is something that we
probably would have not caught in time if we didn’t use Encirca Pro to help
scout fields, given that most of the issue was in the far interior of the
field.
